ABOUT THE CONCERT
Aliana de la Guardia performs in the world premiere of a new vocal chamber piece by the Puerto Rican composer, Gabriel Bouche Caro, commissioned by the Americas Society. The new song cycle is for clarinet, violin, flute, cello, percussion, piano, and soprano voice. This song cycle features selected texts by Giannina Braschi and other Puerto Rican authors and focuses on the ideas of identity in exile and “puertorriqueñidad” (what makes one Puerto Rican).
