“Heart of a Dog” by Rudolf Rojahn

A collage of shots by scenic designer Julia Noulin-Mérat, of the set design, load-in process, and rehearsals for Heart of a Dog, by Rudolf Rojahn, with Guerilla Opera during the Opera America Conference 2011 in Boston, MA.

Adapted from Mikhail Bulgakov’s novella of the same name, this dark, sci-fi comedy is re-imagined in a new production by three-time NOA best production award winner, director Copeland Woodruff.

Directed by Nathan Troup, production design by Julia Noulin-Merat, with Aliana de la Guardia as Sarah Palin/Diane Sawyer, Jennifer Ashe as Sarah Palin, Brian Church as Joe Biden/Joe Wurzelbacher, Amanda Keil as Hillary Clinton/Gwen Ifill/Interviewer, Rane Moore on clarinets, Kent O’Doherty on saxophone, Javier Caballero on cello and Mike Williams on percussion.
